Nebraska Brewing Company IPA Citra Review

by Leave a Comment

Nebraska Brewing Company’s IPA Citra is a West Coast inspired India Pale Ale that showcases the distinctive qualities of Citra hops. With an ABV of 6.9% and 72 IBUs, this beer offers a robust yet balanced experience.

Tasting Notes

Nebraska Brewing Company IPA Citra

Pouring a hazy golden-orange with a frothy white head, the IPA Citra immediately entices with its vibrant citrus-forward aroma. Notes of grapefruit, tangerine, and tropical mango dominate the nose, complemented by a subtle floral undertone. On the palate, the beer is crisp and refreshing, with a burst of juicy citrus flavors that lean toward lemon zest and ripe pineapple. The malt backbone is light and balanced, providing just enough sweetness to counter the hop bitterness, which is present but not overwhelming. The finish is clean and slightly dry, with a lingering hop resin.

Overall Impression

This IPA is well crafted and enjoyable, though it doesn’t necessarily break new ground in the IPA category. It’s a great example of a Citra hopped beer, but it may not stand out among the plethora of similar offerings from other breweries. That said, Nebraska Brewing Company’s attention to detail and quality ingredients shine through, making this a reliable choice for hop lovers.

Nebraska Brewing Company, based in La Vista, Nebraska, has carved out a reputation since 2007 for its barrel-aged beers and innovative brewing techniques. While the IPA Citra doesn’t venture into barrel aging territory, it reflects the brewery’s dedication to producing clean, well balanced beers. The use of Citra hops, known for their bold citrus and tropical fruit characteristics, is executed with precision, making this beer a standout in their lineup.
