Odell Brewing Easy Street Wheat Beer Review

by Leave a Comment

Odell Brewing Company, based in Fort Collins, Colorado, has built a reputation for crafting balanced and flavorful beers with a focus on quality ingredients and innovation. Their Easy Street Wheat is a prime example of their approach. Easy Street is an unfiltered American-style wheat ale that emphasizes drinkability while maintaining enough character to keep things interesting.

Appearance – 4.2/5
Pouring a hazy, golden straw color with a thick, frothy white head, Easy Street Wheat has an inviting and fresh look. The haze, a result of the unfiltered brewing process, gives it a slightly rustic aesthetic that hints at a full-bodied mouthfeel. The lacing on the glass is light but persistent, adding to its visual appeal.

Aroma – 4/5
The aroma is soft and citrusy, with a noticeable presence of wheat and bready malt. Light notes of orange zest and lemon complement a subtle floral hop character. There’s also a mild yeasty quality that gives off hints of banana and spice, though it’s much more restrained than in a traditional hefeweizen.

Taste – 4.2/5
This is where Easy Street Wheat shines as a smooth, well-rounded wheat ale. The wheat malt brings a gentle sweetness, balanced by a touch of citrusy tartness and mild spice. Unlike some wheat beers that lean heavily on banana and clove flavors, this one stays relatively clean, with just a hint of fruitiness. The hop bitterness is minimal but present enough to keep it from becoming overly sweet. There’s also a slight lemony zest on the finish, which enhances its refreshing quality.

Mouthfeel – 4.1/5
Light to medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly creamy texture, Easy Street Wheat is an easy-drinking beer that doesn’t feel too thin or watery. The unfiltered nature adds just a touch of extra body, while the carbonation is moderate, keeping it crisp without being overly fizzy.

Drinkability – 4.2/5
This beer excels in approachability. Whether you’re new to craft beer or a seasoned drinker looking for something refreshing, Easy Street Wheat is an excellent choice. It’s sessionable at 4.6% ABV, making it perfect for warm weather drinking or pairing with light dishes like salads, grilled chicken, or seafood.

Overall Rating – 4.15/5
Odell Brewing’s Easy Street Wheat is a solid American wheat beer that balances refreshment with enough complexity to be engaging. It doesn’t reinvent the style, but it doesn’t need to…it delivers exactly what you want in a wheat ale: a smooth, lightly citrusy, and easy-drinking experience. If you enjoy wheat beers but prefer a cleaner profile over the banana and clove-forward hefeweizen style, this one is well worth trying.
